Students teaching STEM to the next students
Kinetix STEM is a student-led team from Liverpool in South-West Sydney. We exist to give as many young people as possible a real, hands-on go at engineering and code.

Why we started
Our students learned robotics by competing in FIRST Tech Challenge as STEM Cells, a team that has been building robots since 2020. Along the way they noticed how few kids get to try this at all, especially outside big city schools.
Kinetix STEM is how we share it. We take what we've learned, turn it into workshops that a ten-year-old can finish in an afternoon, and bring them to libraries, schools and community groups. Workshops for libraries and rural schools are free.
We started as Kinetix STEM in 2026. Our programs include library workshops, a rural schools program, hospital STEM kits and the FUSION Festival.
How we work
Led by students
Our high school students plan the sessions, write the guides, prepare the kits and teach. Kids learn from people only a few years older than them.
Guided by a mentor
An adult mentor supervises every session and looks after safety, planning and communication with the organisations we work with.
Free where it counts
Library and rural school workshops cost nothing. Sponsors and partners cover kits, travel and events.
Who leads Kinetix
Rayaan Nabi, Lead Mentor
Rayaan mentors the STEM Cells robotics team and leads Kinetix STEM. He supervises our workshops and is the contact for libraries, schools and partners.
Our student team
Our students are high school robotics competitors from South-West Sydney. They design, build and code the STEM Cells robot each season, and they teach every Kinetix workshop.
Child safety
Most of the people we teach are children, and so are most of the people teaching. We take that seriously.
- An adult mentor supervises every Kinetix session.
- Our mentor holds a current NSW Working With Children Check.
- We follow each host venue's own child safety rules and sign-in procedures.
- We only photograph participants with permission from a parent, carer or the host organisation.
- Our students contact organisations through our shared team email, which our mentor can see.
